Dedan Kimathi Waciuri, born Kimathi wa Waciuri, was a revolutionary leader who led an armed military struggle known as the Mau Mau Uprising against the British colonial regime in Kenya in the 1950s. He carried most of his operations from his sisters backyard. His half-sister and her children, however, lead a miserable life in Nyandarua County. They are calling on president Uhuru Kenyatta to come to their rescue.

I am a Zimbabwean. Growing up we were taught at school the history of such powerful liberation war heroes like Kimathi, Lumumba, Sankara. It is indeed a shame, that the Kenyan government, like most African States, has failed to recognize that freedom fighters were part of the main and never an island to themselves. Watching this grandma cramped up in that hovel of a wooden kitchen is SAD. Anyone with the name "UHURU" should be ashamed ....
