I've been using this software, the paid full version for about 4-5 years and it does NOT always work... even with an undamaged dvd. I've tried it with brand new dvds and scratched one's, and it only works about %70 of the time. It's a real bummer when products don't live up to their claims. There's been times, the program just shuts down completely when I try to convert a dvd to mp4.

My question is will it transfer the DVD’s surround sound soundtrack? I’ve got a huge DVD-A music collection and would love to put them on a USB drive but I have no idea if it will still give me the 5.1 surround sound. If not then there’s no point.

does this keep the main title screen where you can select what chapter to start watching (like if I burn a DVD of a TV show Id like to be able to select which episode to watch and not have to skip through till i get to the one I want to watch)

This is not actually digitizing your DVD. I actually enjoy the menus and hidden easter eggs, alternate endings, blooper reels & chapter selections. Something I miss from the streaming platform. I wish there was a software that could literally store your DVD library, not just convert to mp4.

You got to where you can select chapters and then said we’ll just skip that part. Well, that’s the only part I had questions about, everything else was super simple. I’m trying to download part of a tv series (one episode) but can’t seem to figure out how to find it.

Thanks for this tutorial. I have a question if I may before I drop any cash on the product. Would I be able to convert a Video_TS folder into a MP4 file. Most rip products will convert a vob file to MP4 file but DVDs tend to have Video_TS folders with vob files inside. So the software would need to grab the folder and convert it to a MP4. Can WinX DVD Ripper perform this function. Thanks.

What do you suggest after you convert them to MP4 so you can play them on your TV? I have heard of an external drive box with however many TB on it with a wifi signal so it can connect to your TV wirelessly.
