The city of San Francisco is being sued for illegally forcing its homeless population to move, while also discarding the belongings of the individuals. Homeless advocates say a federal judge is reviewing the allegation, along with an emergency order to stop the city of San Francisco from dismantling tent communities without providing shelter alternatives. Zak Shroff, Senior Attorney on the Racial Justice team, gives his viewpoint on the matter.

They build a homeless shelter in my neighborhood crime has increased and there's trash everywhere, including needles and human feces.

San Francisco should be sued for giving the homeless excessive amounts of taxpayer money.
San Francisco should be sued for opening needle exchanges, safe drug use spots, and every other way they enabled people to do hard drugs.

They always say they have no where else to go.
TRY REHAB...

Not all of them are "priced out of their neighborhood" the vast majority of them are on drugs . If it was people not strung out of drugs that were homeless I think it would less of an issue for residents. I was born and raised in San Francisco and currently in the process of moving because of how horrible things are getting

They let the situation go rampant and then punish the people for the problems that the city created.

6 months in jail would help the drunks and junkies dry out.

Whoever is in charge of these policies should take a lot of these people and move them into their neighborhood and see how they feel afterwards.

They shouldn't be sued. I read an article "Half of San Francisco’s homeless residents refused shelters". And also the news of a huge fire that broke out and destroyed a nearly completed housing structure in SF. Listen...rules should be in place that if an unhoused person refuses a shelter they should be immediately detained and sent to a designated area and then transported OUT of state. The laws for retail theft arrests and prosecution should immediately be enforced as well as other commonplace infractions such as jaywalking, public indecency, public urination etc. We need to clean up things...its gone on long enough. To have to pay these high taxes for police who do nothing is ridiculous.

These people never show you from ages 14 to 24 when they were out there partying, getting high, drinking, using people around them which lead to their current situation

glad to hear you'll be housing them!

They should be arrested. In jail they'd have showers, clothes, 3 hots and a cot.

BS, the majority of the homeless living on the streets are not priced out of the neighborhood.
It's because of drug addiction.
You can drop the rent significantly, and there will still be homeless.

Take a census of homeless in San Francisco. Bet you that the majority of homeless are from out of state and they come to San Francisco because they believe that they could continue to act like drug addicted degenerates without any consequences. As for the nonprofit industrial complex, audit them and see how they are spending public funds.

Close the homeless shelters and let the winter take care of them.

Move the homeless out of the city to facilitates (bathrooms, cafeteria and rehabilitation facilities if they want) build on cheaper land. They will be living better than where they are now

1. San Francisco City owns dozens of open lots, hundreds of housing unused because they won't fix them.

Residents are under legal obligation to accommodate them. SUPREME COURT JUSTICES have ruled that. They are not residents. We have legal right to remove them as this is endangering residents well being with public health crisis.
They can go camping in abandoned cities.
