In New York, the arrogant Dr. Stephen Strange is a talented neurosurgeon with a huge ego. After a car accident, Dr. Strange damages his fingers and loses control of his hands. The surgeon, Christine Palmer, who was his lover, tries to help him. But Dr. Strange unsuccessfully spends his savings searching for an experimental treatment for his fingers. When Dr. Strange learns that the paraplegic Jonathan Pangborn walked again, he seeks him out and is told he was healed in Kamar-Taj. Dr. Strange travels to Katmandu where he meets the sorcerer Mordo and is introduced to The Ancient One. She discloses the astral plan and other dimensions to him and explains that Earth is protected in the mystical plan by three Sanctums (in New York, London, and Hong Kong). However, her former protégé, Kaecilius, has contacted the powerful demon Dormammu in the Dark Dimension and wants to destroy the three Sanctums with his minions to let the Dark Dimension, where time does not exist and anyone can live forever, to rule the world. what stands out for me is that the ancient one doesn't downplay stevens achievements as a doctor. you'd normally expect an enlightened being with knowledge and power beyond comprehension to care little for something mere mortals can achieve. The ancient one talks about reattaching nerves as though it's just as impressive as her wizardry and spells.

I love the whole concept of just being able to learn magic. You're not born a wizard you become one.

I always really liked how the Ancient One would try to relate herself to Strange instead of refuting his world of science entirely. Like when she talked about Magic having to be practiced diligently like he did with medicine

It’s because she is humble. She doesn’t make herself out to be better than others. Best version of the Ancient One in my opinion.

This type of teaching, reformatting an entire lesson into terminology that your student can enjoy, and then putting them in situations that has them to put the verbal lessons into actions, is so simple, yet so underutilized.

You guys ever realize that if steven was a few seconds too faster he would've gotten decapitated by the closing portal?

Dr strange easily has some of the best cgi and some of the coolest looking magic ever.

Favorite scene in the movie, and I quote it all the time in my daily life. In the MCU, becoming a Sorceror Supreme is no different from becoming a master chef, or a top-tier surgeon, or a skilled computer programmer. It's a matter of knowing the facts and understanding the reality of the field. You can only do those things with study and practice!

Okay the fact that she made me intrigued at what she was saying over the fact that she was drawing lines in air is impressive.

It's hilarious that Ned was able to pull it off much faster than doctor Strange did

At first I don't like the idea that they replaced asian person to a white person. But I gotta say, I love Tilda's performance as the ancient one, she's an fabulous actress.

He may be around 40-60 y.o but Strange's mental age would probably be hundreds of years old, the fact that he viewed/lived 14, 000, 605 possibilities ranging from a few minutes or hours per possibility, not to mention his training in Kamar Taj where his physical form is asleep but his astral form keeps on training and learning, and of course his loop with Dormammu, only a few instances of his death there was shown where in fact it was actually a few hundred trials before Dormammu finally gave in.

For anybody confused about the Ancient One mentioning the multiverse "before" Sylvie killed He Who Remains in Loki, first of all, remember that the events of Loki occurred outside of time and space. The birth of the multiverse at the end of that show occurred simultaneous to every point in time in the mainline universe, and thus simultaneously to every point in time in every other universe that was created thereafter. In other words, the multiverse has always existed and also never existed at the same time. It's a paradox.
However, there's another layer to it that most people forget. The reason the Ancient One can be aware of the multiverse, even under the reign of He Who Remains, is because HWR did not eliminate EVERY other timeline from existence, just whatever other timeline resulted in the birth of one of his variants in the 31st century. If you go back and watch the early episodes of Loki, they show the Sacred Timeline as more of a "braid" of tightly packed timelines, not a single strand. To this extent, there is a multiverse both with and without He Who Remains, but the one without him is infinite whereas the one with him is finite. So there is no continuity error in the Ancient One mentioning multiverses, not only because the multiverse exists with or without HWR, but also because the existence of the infinite multiverse is a quantum binary, constantly being and not being at the same time for all time.

I feel like there are multiple multiverses at play in the MCU. The Dimensional Multiverse, where the differences in each universe are reality-based. The Temporal Multiverse, where differences are determined by time-based events. And, of course, the Spider-verse, which I consider separate from the Dimensional Multiverse, because if it isn't, then the Illuminati are so incompetent that they didn't even notice a near-infinite incursion occuring during No Way Home...

One issue. She mentions the Multiverse and how they use the energy from these other dimensions. So how did Earth 838 Stephen “discover” the multiverse if it was already known about?
