I definitely wanted more school Sim elements. Classes, curfew, detention, random school events or clubs. Stuff like that

The first time you ride a broom around the castle grounds… I still remember the chills

15:24 IMO the best part of this game is the music. It really sets the tone everywhere you go. Perfectly placed.

One of my main criticism is how Ancient Magic is handled in gameplay, I mean it's just finishers, yeeting objects at enemies & puzzles where you just press a button while standing at the right spot to make something happen. The Keepers promised to teach the player how to wield Ancient Magic properly, but that never happens, the Ancient Magic system never goes beyond what I mentioned before which is disappointing

This game was one of the most polished games released on console and was amazing your first time playing and still baffles my mind how it wasn't even nominated for a potential GOTY

I appreciate how positioning Avalanche Software as a studio "way out of their depth" makes for a better story, but the truth is, after the billion dollar franchise that was Disney Infinity, we were actually quite confident in our ability to pull it off. This is because Disney Infinity, (with all its figures and playsets and Toybox and three released versions covering over a dozen different IP's) was similar in size and scope to Hogwarts Legacy.

In fact, I contend that THERE WAS NO BETTER STUDIO in all of AAA gaming to make Hogwarts Legacy because Avalanche Software was the studio most experienced with treating IP with care and respect in the entire world. No other studio had worked successfully with so much IP and pleased so many fans in the process.

Howarts Legacy was a success BECAUSE of the dedication and experience of the dev team at Avalanche Software, not in spite of it.

I agree entirely with a "actions have consequence's" concept. I am a story game player, and the reason I go back to games like RDR2, BG3, Skyrim, Cyberpunk and the AC franchise is because it was MY story. They made me emotionally invested, to the point that I think about them still today, and will go back and start them over again just to feel the emotional draw. I played Hogwarts Legacy and 100% everything, and never went back to it. It's sat untouched in my Steam Library. People loved Harry Potter, not just because of the magical world and wonder, but because it pulled readers/ watchers in emotionally with the characters and relationships. In Hogwarts Legacy, everyone played the same story and it was pretty surface level; it didn't feel special or unique (outside of it being a wizard/ witch game of course). Not to say I didn't enjoy it, I loved it and saw amazing potential, but I agree with what you mentioned "it didn't have the same wonder on the second playthrough". I hate that I played it once and didn't feel the need or want to pick it back up again. I want to see Avalanche make investments in the story and dig deeper into characters, relationships and decision making to make a unique gameplay. I mean, you have 4 different houses and they all feel the same when playing the story? Just as an example, if you were Slytherin, you could start as a pretty "evil" character and make story decisions to create a redemption arch character by the end of the game. I want joyous highs and gut wrenching lows and difficult dialogue choices. I want to talk to my friends about it, and us all have completely different playthroughs, because we're all different. I want to play it 100 times and discover something new every time. After all, its just as much a simulation game as it is an RPG adventure game.

My favorite memory of my first playthrough is when I was already done with Sebs storyline, I used the killing curse to kill 5 enemies at once and my character, with a smug, said something like "Wait until Sebastian hears about this"

The amount of content in the castle didn't bother me, but the complete lack of anything in the common rooms was disappointing. If a side character was in your house, you should meet them in the CR to start the mission at least. Have a game system like in Red Dead that are in the CRs or any reason to go there. It would be great if they had CR specific missions, so what house you're in matters. This would promote multiple plays.

Building the place and the mechanics must have taken quite a toll. The castle alone. But considering it's already done. They could make a sequel. Use all the assets they already have and just add a bunch of story. Maybe another travel location so they don't have to mess with the map much. And I'd be happy.

I agree with you. Exploring and getting to know the castle on my first playthrough was magical. Also, thank you for your videos. The countdown to this game's release took forever and watching your updates helped a ton!!

What shocked me I'm a 2nd playthrough was that my feelings towards Sebastians actions were the compete opposite of the first time. First one, I felt like he is completely justified and that I would kill that Solomon myself if I knew the spell. But the second time... I couldn't sympathize with Sebastian at all. I somehow started seeing the story from uncle's perspective and couldn't help but see the wrongs behind Sebastian's reasoning

I would like a feature to toggle the lock picking spell on/off…I get tired of having to do the puzzle everytime to unlock something.

I remember myself standing in the hall of the castle and just listening to the magic quartet playing Boccerini's Menuet and looking at the surroundings straight for like 15 minutes. And later it happened many times just staring at one specific thing and not believing they it's really in the game

A tri-wizard cup contest with story weaved in would be awesome DLC oppty. Would make sense that you're character competes in it because they are old enough, can bring about more unique characters from other regions of world. Have a wide variety of challenges to pick from and make it replayable so each run you get 4 new challenges and puzzles to solve. So many ways they could make that an awesome DLC or huge part of next game

I think at least part of the reason why you can't fly into Hogsmeade might have to do with the Switch port.
On the Switch port, Hogsmeade isn't loaded in with the rest of the open world, you actually have to go through a loading screen to enter & exit Hogsmeade due to Hogsmeade being loaded as a separate world space on the Switch port, hence the magic barrier. And I think to keep each version identical on what the player can & can't do, they added the anti-flight barrier over Hogsmeade for every version
