New Telescope, A Huge Error And Comet ZTF!

So with a break in the weather I managed to turn some new gear to imaging Comet C/2022 E3 ZTF.

This comet, hailed as the "green comet" comes once every 50,000. Whilst not visible to my eye like Comet Neowise was, ZTF is just as stunning. Join me in this video as I walk through how I went around capturing this comet!

That AM5, SM90ED, ASI AIR and 2600 is basically my dream rig.
Even my HEQ5 hasn't been out in ages, there's only a single clear night every 6-12 weeks, and usually that's when the moon is out!

Awesome comet photo with dew and all as the stars look like streaming snowflakes with ZTF streaking through❄️❄️ ☄️❄️❄️

I've been kicking myself for weeks because in my last outing I forgot to turn on the auto guider. So glad to see I'm not the only one who forgets things. Thanks for admitting to the error Mr. AstroFarsography! Nice images of the comet.

This comet has so far completely eluded me due to bad weather. Glad you could image it.

Good video experiencing the fun and agony of tracking a comet, Ruzz. Yes, those dew straps work a whole lot better when connected to a power supply ... ha. I have done that in the past too. I even had a dew strap short out and catch on fire! That was interesting. NICE ZWO RIG

Nicely captured Ruiz! Im only a Planetary photographer. But Just two nights back The comet was On conjunction with mars. I manually Aligned my scope to mars And then Hopped on to the comet using the camera, I was Honestly suprised to see the comet especially from my Bortle 8 backyard!

Hi Ruzeen, and thank you for this video. I think your final image looks pretty cool. I really like the star trails and yet you have dead focus on the Comet! Very nice. By the way, I have to same ZWO AM5 Mount with the PE200 pier extension as well. I am very happy I purchased the PE200 because if I didn't my telescope, a MaxVision ED 127 mm x 952 mm Triplet Apo with FCD100 glass at f/7.5, and ZWO ASI2600MC Pro camera, definitely, would have hit the tripod on several occasions when shooting up towards the zenith. Also, I purchased the Counter weight bar because my MaxVision ED 127 is 952 mm focal length, has the ZWO ASI 2600MC Pro camera as well as a ZWO EAF, Explore Scientific 3" Flattener Focal Reducer Corrector, which is a very heavy piece of kit, and a ZWO M54 Filter drawer with the ASIAIR Plus mounted on the side of the mount, which brings in a total weight of about 26 lbs. (26 pounds equal 11.8 kg) not including the ASIAIR Plus. This is close to the max weight for the AM5 without the counterweight (13kg) and with the Counterweight it is (20kg). Anyway, the reason for the Counterweight is because the rig being on the PE200 Pier Extension is very top heavy to one side or another, depending on the position, making the risk of falling over very high! With the Counterweight it mitigates that problem very well. I mention this just as a cautionary note and the counterweight stabilizes the entire rig. Sorry I drifted way off the subject of your Comet, but I thought you, as well as other owners of the AM5, might be interested since you have a fairly large rig yourself. By the way, my MaxVision ED 127 Apo is the same exact telescope as the Explore Scientific ED 127 mm x 952 mm FCD100 Triplet Apo, just branded with the MaxVision name and it cost about $1000 less than the Explore Scientific telescope, on AliExpress, Anyway, thank you for indulging me long winded comment.

Sincerely, Richard Williams

That’s a really nice image Ruzz, different to everyone else’s, the stars makes the comet stand out I think👍 Great idea with the ASIAIR to track it! Clear skies

You need a tarp you can hang on a clothes line to block that light out so your night vision isn't destroyed every time you look in that direction.

Great video. And great idea to track the comet.
Did I see a red street light in this video? And if so how did you manage to get them to agree with that?
