This is a review of the new antibacterial ballpoint from Zebra, the Clean*Do. It has a copper alloy grip that is said to be antiviral, antibacterial, antimicrobial, etc, so it's good for use in hospitals as well as similar settings where these properties are important.

Yes, it's true that copper and brass (a copper alloy) have been shown to have antimicrobial properties. Although the health features of copper and brass have been part of folk knowledge for thousands of years, recent studies have shown that these ideas have a real basis in fact.

I just found your link online about the multiple ink types because I had just bought a hybrid ink pen set yesterday and wanted to know more about how they are classified. Your article was very thorough and I learned a lot about the other pen ink types as well that I didn't know before! Thank you for such a helpful channel so people like me know how to buy the pens that are right for the job 🖋️🖊️🥳😁

I think it’s a good looking pen. Kind of like The Jetstream Edge. But the plastic parts of the Edge are much better looking and better quality. The clip is also metal on that one. Great video nonetheless. Keep them coming 😀👍🏻

Is it compatible with jetstream refils 🤔🤔

germs only live half as long on copper/brass compared to other surfaces if i'm not mistaken.

An antibacterial grip? Really Zebra? The company tried to cash in on the anti-COVID sentiment believing that labeling this pen as such would make them some extra cash. Ridiculous IMO. Just wash your hands or keep some sanitizer at your reach. Geez! Thanks for the video!

Well well well... I do work with Petri dishes and often have to write at the same time. Maybe I should research these a bit.

Many metals are Antimicrobial due to the oligodynamic effect because they release metal ions - proteins and enzymes commonly use metal ions (Sodium, potassium, zinc, magnesium, etc) as “keys” to work sort of like a car or a door. In this case most notably, silver and copper (which is in brass). For microorganisms, get the wrong concentrations or ions in the wrong places and they wreak havoc. For big organisms like us, we have skin so no big deal.

Personal opinion..
Zebra should have never dumped the Zmulsion pens. I have a few left. But you cant find the 1.0mm refills any more. Amazon sells something similar in a 0.7mm

I have a Raw brass Fisher bullet. Bought it before Covid. Zebra looks nice, but seems like a gimmick. I wipe down my pens since I’m in medical field or use hand sanitizer in a pinch, but having anti microbial isn’t necessary in a pen to me.

I used to think mosquito repellent ink was dumb

Pens with antibacterial functions seem to be in demand recently.

Your Amazon link goes to the listing for a box of 12 Zebra F-301 series pens, not to this pen.

Copper. Hey, copper. That's why the color you can see the difference from the steel nose cone. CRAP refill. Sure, the right ink, but it's a HORRIBLE shortie, hard to locate refill, and that pocket clip you may Have.
I won't waste any more life on this.
