The way he is doing it is a travel. The ball has to be in the air (i.e. not in his hands) before that pivot step and then you can change directions laterally across the defender. He has already picked the ball up when he takes the pivot step....once you do that you cant change directions, it is a travel

Isn’t this technically considered a travel by high school rules since the pivot foot (the left foot in this case) is lifted and then returned back to the ground before the ball is released for the shot?
