The Altar on Mount Eibal

The Children of Israel were commanded to ceremoniously ratify a series of blessings and curses, the former for obeying the Torah and latter for disobeying. This event is described briefly in Deuteronomy 11 and in full detail in Deuteronomy 27. Half the nation were to stand on Mt Gerizim and ratify the blessings, while the other half stood on nearby Mt Eibal and ratified the curses. They were also instructed to construct an altar on Mt Eibal and offer sacrifices; we are told in the book of Joshua that Joshua carried out these instructions. My question: why build the altar on the mountain associated with curses? In this video suggest three reasons.
