I did ncs last year, the tea is that they did advertise a lot of things that didn’t actually happen, but I can’t fault it. I met so many great friends who I love. I’d defo recommend it to others!

All NCS did was harrased me. Constant phone calls, emails etc getting us to join cba with that

Mine was in London (provided by The Challenge) and was very well organised with a good bunch of senior mentors. It's like uni condensed into 4 weeks, but with no work and more camping/outdoor activities. One of the best summers I've had. SERIOUSLY DO IT

I would not recommend anybody to do NCS honestly it was a complete waste of time the quality of it varies throughout the uk. The leaders on mine where all kids who had no clue so it was so unorganised the only people who seemed to have fun where the ones getting paid. It doesn't even really help your cv anyways because not many people know what it is it takes up all your summer. Get a job instead don't do it!!

My experience was lit. We all clicked together after day 1 and our mentors were the calmest most safest people I've ever met. I do believe it does depend whos in you wave but it comes down to how you make of it. If you don't want to participate and try and get involved with the wave, it's gonna be dead, but if you go out of your comfort zone and commit and join in, it's gonna be lit

Not gonna lie - NCS was one of the worst experiences of my life and I've been through the ringer! On my second day they literally tried to kill me, refused to call an ambulance and the staff didn't even know know where we were! I don't know in all fairness if this was just the stupidity of my local district if my experience attributes to NCS as an organisation but can say that I have ever met a more disorganised company in all of my life. All hate to NCS; no hate to Ibz the amazing.

My NCS experience was good! I think it definitely depends on your wave, but you’ll only find out if you try. I’ve actually used the week3/4 social action project stuff on a few applications - not mentioning NCS, but what I actually did. ( Created a promotional video for a local charity of an activity day that one of the other groups made and also created shoeboxes filled with necessities that we handed out to homeless people, with spare being given to charity)

I thought I was the only one that hated NCS. Reading the comments has told me that I'm not alone in holding that opinion. Still liked the video for Ibz though!

I'm glad these students had a good experience but for it was honestly a really awful experience - four weeks of feeling stressed, miserable, lonely and anxious. We had very poor guidance in Phase 3 and I don't feel like we achieved anything with our project. The leaders didn't really know how to lead, probably because they were only a few years older than us. We didn't really learn any skills - the only cooking we did was buttering toast a couple of times and frying bacon once, and in week two we just had a few random talks. The first week was in some kind of cadet centre, but it honestly felt a bit like a prison. It was genuinely the worst experience of my life so far.

I suffer from a chronic pain condition and it was not taken seriously while I was on the first week of ncs, when I came back I was in hospital - honestly it was the worst experience.

My experience with NCS was a sticky one still. I didn’t really enjoy the first week cause it was so hard to make friends cause people came “cliqued up” like majority were from the same school etc it was difficult but Phase 2 and phase 3 was where I realised how much I actually enjoyed NCS and honestly it was a great experience.

I think 2 weeks of phase 2 and I week of social action would be enough tho 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I had so much fun tbh, I met a group of amazing people who stayed my friends for a really long time and raised over £1000 for charity. I may sound like an advert for NCS but NCS was a subjective experience, I know people who hated it

there's ICS which is an international one where you can go to third world countries n shit that's for people like us, older ones lol

I really don't want to go to ncs bc everyone I know who went hated it and plus I'm extremely introverted and have social anxiety AND I'm not even not that sure if it will be related to the course I am interested in (architecture). But then I'm concerned I might have nothing to put on my PS
