Fleming's left hand rules is explained using the catapult effect to demonstrate the force on a wire in a magnetic field going on to examine the interaction of the fields and linking that with Fleming's left hand rule.

I'm an electrical engineer, and this is the first video I've ever seen that practically demonstrated the electrical force AND showed how the 2 right-hand-rules are related!!

OH MAN! This is awesome, I was having a really hard time understanding the apparatus of this experiment from my textbook. Not only my doubts about the apparatus is clear now, moreover, I now know the reason of the force being in the direction it is. Thank you very much, sir! I wish you were my teacher in school!

Probably the best demonstration of the Rule..

Thank you a lot! I had a big doubt in this rule and your video cleared it out completely. Thx again!

So on the left hand rule, the field is not the wire's field (induced by the current), but an external magnetic field (from permanent magnets in this case). I think that point deserves reinforcement. Diagram at 1 minute was very illuminating.

I don't understand the diagram at 1:40. If there is a larger force vector acting towards the S and no force vector acting towards the N (as it has cancelled out, why the wire get propelled right? Surely it would just go down towards the South. Is there another vector I am not considering? I've always understood it in relation to the Lorentz force acting on the charged particles in the conductor, not as an interaction of the magnetic fields.

@ 1:05, you show the current flowing towards the viewer, yet the lines of force are shown rotating CCW. Using the left hand rule for conductors (electron flow), shouldn't the lines be rotating CW? Thank you
