Apple Studio Display for half the price! Kuycon G27P 5K monitor review.

Kuycon G27P is a 27 inch 5K monitor with awesome build quality, glossy finish, 600 nits of brightness and 99% P3 color accuracy. Kuycon G27P 5K is a competitor to Apple Studio Display and LG UltraFine 5K, but for a very attractive price. Kuycon G27P 5K is great for Macs because of the high PPI of 218 and perfect MacOS scaling, it also supports brightness adjustment with brightness keys on the Mac and a single USB-C connection with 100W power. Also Kuycon G27P 5K features a ton of ports, including HDMI 2.1, Display Port 1.4, USB-C, USB-A and AUX. Kuycon G27P 5K is made out of aluminum and has a super steady stand (with or without hight adjustability) or a VESA mount. Kuycon G27P 5K can also work with Windows and Linux. A perfect monitor for photographers, videographers, editors and creators - Kuycon G27P 5K 27 inch monitor review.

Would you buy Kuycon or the Apple Studio Display?

This display is $1100 vs $1400 for the Studio Display with my Military/Veteran discount. That's not half. Much rather spend the extra $300 and get the real deal.

it's $1100 vs. $1400 of the studio display on ebay. don't think it's really a "cheaper" option considering the quality trade off and aftermarket support

Made the mistake of buying one of these from the “factory” here in China. Three days to get them to ship it. Constant lies about testing… just hopeless. Perhaps the Russian and American stores are better. Suggest to avoid like the plague

I still use my ten year old Thunderbolt Display with a thunderbolt 2 to thunderbolt 3 adapter. And I'm still very happy with it

Thank you for the review! I see it has both HDMI & USB-C inputs. If you plug in two separate computers, one computer connected into the USB-C port, and the other into the HDMI port, which port will it prioritize and display?

G34W… Really wish you did purchase the 34” one to compare to the actual $7K one… Wanted a dual setup but didnt want to spend another $7K… but came across this one. Only difference i seen was the fact that they had the perforated rear only on the 27” and not the 34”. And yes Im aware my Apple Pro Display XDR is about 32”. Dont think in person you could see the difference .

I agree 27" 5k or 32" 6k are the best for Macs!

Why is the studio display so old yet i can’t find it discounted or used and Apple absolutely will not tell us if the display we are looking at will be outdated next week

In my country it is priced around the same as the Samsung ViewFinity S9 S27C900PAE 27" 5K which has speakers. It would be interesting to know who/what panel is being used in that Kuycon. I suspect it is the same as the Samsung and apple 27" 5K monitors - a Samsung. EDIT- Apparently it's an LG panel that they all use. There's a thread on Reddit started by someone who's returned 4 of these for being faulty.

Which one do you prefer for office tasks and entertainment? 32 inch 4k or 27 inch 5k?

I asked a price included shipping to The Netherlands. On top of the price below you also need to pay import tax. It's not worth it to buy. For a little more money you can buy an original Studio display.

Kuycon G27P - Perforated
with Height-adjustable stand
1299 EUR or 1300 USDT
Including shipping to Netherlands

Here in NZ, the Kuycon G27P 5K monitor is $1400.00 - hardly half the cost of a ASD.

28 inch 5K it the perfect screen because 200ppi. I currently have a 4K at 28 inch, for 150ppi goodness at 100% scaling. 200ppi at 125% scaling means "150ppi" still just sharper. 30 and 32 getting too large, 26 too small, 27 may be acceptable. I'd take 30 but in 2160 height for 21:9.

But if I do pay for such a panel I want 90Hz at least, and absoltuely a 10bit panel too. And not super glossy.

Still good we gte more choices.

it would've been better to do a side-by-side (apples to oranges )comparison with Apple's, monitor, and talk about what the trade-offs are and pros and cons.

No mention of speakers? My Apple studio display has amazing sound.

How's the build quality? This is a key point because the studio display has phenomenal build quality compared to the competition and is one of the defining features imo. Is it plastic or metal? How are the hinges and are there any creaks, etc?

Would you be able to test out if the monitor can do anything above 60Hz?
5K 120hz or higher?
Very interested in picking these up!
