Excellent summary of the little Honda 50s. I had a red one, 1970 or 71, no lights. For my 6-year-old, I made a smaller seat, by sculpting, padding and upholstering a 2x4 piece of wood! I welded two brackets to mount it like the big seat, and it looked like a tiny cafe racer! My kid LOVED that low seat.

I appreciate that you mentioned all the different "Monkey" models Honda made over the years back then. Honda always designs themselves away from really good designs, and loses previous buyers' interest in the replacements, even if new potential customers are attracted. One of my favorites was the 1968 era of scramblers, from the T-bone framed SL90, the 160 and the 250.

My older brother bought a brand new 1963 250 Scrambler, and I was maybe 11 then, and thought his bike was a big BEAST! The gas tank shapes were a very cool shape back then for all the scramblers, eye pleasing and definitely unique to Honda.

I bought a new 1968 Scrambler 90, Seattle area, for $400.
