When I first heard this song even before he started singing I thought it was gunna be about heroin or drugs. That depressing melody for some reason sounds like what I imagine a downward spiral and heroin addiction would sound like. It's hard to explain.

You were the one. Or one of a pair should I say, being one half of a snowball, or a speed ball for the Americans. Nothing like a needle filled with heroin and crack then as soon as that plunger drops having a pipe of crack at the second that gold hits the hairs in the back your your neck. Been clean a long time though, and can't say I miss it, the drugs lose their potency after years of abuse and you really just gain a sense of normality after using and that is not worth wasting your life for.
