If I had a dollar for everytime you started a video with "in the beginning of the 20th century"...

Monsieur z the video was great. The difference between most alternate historians on YouTube is that they talk about the people or land consequences more while you would focus on structure and the ideology

I heard of objectivism before briefly by the game Bioshock. But after watching the video, I somewhat under the ideology of ayn rand. Thanks for the informative scenario.

I would argue you wouldn't have nearly as much prejudice in hiring practices. Rand was openly against racism bc of the fact that she saw it as the most evil form of collectivism. Thus, decades of objectivist thinking permeating through society would also lead people to believe this kind of prejudice to be wrong, as well.

It was almost scary how similar my personal ideology is to Ayn Rand's objectivism considering I've never heard of her before.
I've always considered myself an "individualist" so this is very interesting. Thanks for the video mr Z

Alt Hist Idea: What if the Liberator Conspiracy was Better? Instead of just killing off Julius Caesar, they kill Mark Antony, Lepidus, Octavian and really completely purge the Caesarians from Rome. Would they be able to preserve the Republic? Would Civil War occur? Frankly I think it’s a fascinating scenario but doesn’t get much attention due to the fact that Rome already had so much drama at the time.

I appreciate how comprehensive your video and its scenarios are..but I notice how you minimize the impact that certain key elements of what you describe would actually have on the US situation. I imagine you've done this to sort've downplay aspects of it that should detract from ideals important to your own political leanings..which is understandable but thats why I respect the fact that there is a comment section.
The resurgence of statism in a deregulated economy...a perfect environment to fester runaway corporatism, exploitation of workers, crippling competation between states. We'd be lucky if some of them would form cooperative superstates or trade unions...so much for no big governments. Whats more you do not at all address how much supression of markets is the result of conglomerates and monopolies themselves. Products dont only disappear because they are bad or demand wanes..but probably more often because of business deals, company rebranding, and shifts in investment priorities. These things already happen in regulated markets but how much more dangerous for snake oil consumers and downright impossible for entreprenuers/innovators to break into existing and competitor markets under laisse faire economy?
I already know the outcome would..actually will...be holistic brand factions and this would make a great sci fi film but probably a pretty awful and at least absurd reality especially had it occured sooner than it will.
I think probably the most glaring example of problematic analysis in this episode is the contradiction that presents itself as you discuss how Goldwater would be fostering a reduced central government yet somehow on the issue of communism he could also, despite effectively relinquishing the domestic powers of his own office and the reach of government over individuality and freedom of conscience, still magically supress and/or stamp out communism in a country which would through objectivism exacerbate the divide between the haves and have nots and provoke other similar class struggles. No. I wonder if veterans of the Vietnam conflict might have retreated home to a related conflict in full swing.
Also you're wrong about Soviet interests in Vietnam. Yes, the Viet Minh were originally were working with the PRC but by the time the civil war broke out and with the rise of Viet Cong they had switched alliegance to Soviets. Though they still continued limited military and political aid to Nam Viet during the war this was and even now is a source of political conflict between the PRC and Vietnam and actually precipitated bloody clashes with other pro China factions in the region like Maoist Cambodia. My point is that tactical nukes in China would have certainly led to nuclear conflict with USSR. For better or worse there are reasons the U.S. government for so long avoided decisive air campaigns over Vietnam. Everyone knows this was a proxy war between U.S. and USSR I don't know why you would suggest otherwise.

Nah, with less government intervention and major deregulation comes an increase of toxins in the air as well as ground and water, exploitative practices that can easily be termed neo-slavery and legal racketeering (you know, the things regulations are mend to restrict) and as a bonus economic crises because the balance between security and short-term gains would flip fully to the latter creating a shaken-soda-bottle-economy (an explosion of bubbles which quickly burst and leave a sticky mess).

I have a physical handicap so no, I am unfortunately not in full control of my life and in that reality I would be dead. Even though I have a high level of intelligence and I am studying national economics, law, and political philosophy in this world, in that world I would be left to die form starvation.

One thing you didn't bring up is that having a large underclass increases the prevalence of in our reality preventable diseases. Either the wealthy would have to spend a higher amount on health care or they and the poor would all be dead.
