The poems he quoted are also largely from Blake's Book: The Marriage of Heaven and Hell. For example, if memory serves right "The cut worm forgives the plow" is from The Marriage of Heaven and Hell, and is a subsection of poems called "Proverbs of Hell". One of the main places in DMC is the Underworld, which is Hell. I enjoy poetry quite a bit and I'd also like to point out the poetic influence of DMC as a whole and not just DMC5 and V. Dante and Vergil share the same name with Dante Alighieri and Virgil, an Italian poet. Dante and Virgil are characters in a book written by the poet, Dante Alighieri call'd "The Divine Comedy". Funnily enough, the story of The Divine Comedy follows a man (Dante), Virgil (Vergil), and Beatrice (Trish?) through the 3 realms of the afterlife on a journey to repent for his sins and find God. One of the realms is Inferno, or, Hell. Dante and Vergil get trapped in the underworld at the end of the game. Beatrice is suppos'd to be Dante's ideal woman in the book and she leads him through Paradiso (Heaven). Surprisingly, Beatrice can be shorten'd into Trish and Trish in DMC looks like Dante's mother. Not only do they quote Blake, but they're seemingly inspir'd by Alighieri a wee bit. It's splendid to think about. The Divine Comedy is my favorite book, and Blake is my favorite poet. It's no wonder that DMC became my favorite series.

Urizen the boss is also a William Blake reference, since his name "Urizen" is taken from William Blake's "The Book of Urizen"

The fact that he gets comfort out of it is such a good detail that would explain why DT gauge refills when he reads. He's armless if the familiar aren't there, that means he reads to get them close to himas long as he can.

Still kinda blows my mind abit how technically Vergil was a poetic guy of all people.😂

Sometimes I like to look at Genesis (Rhapsodos) and V and think about how one is hated and called annoying for always quoting a poem and the other is not. Sometimes I just feel like those two would have a blast talking about their favorite poems with a cup of tea

Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand

Plus the main boss of the game is called "Urizen" which is the name of the Demiurge-like creator from William Blake's mythology

It also adds character, at least his not saying "No one understands me"and other edgy lines all the time.
