Matthew Gordon spoke with Stephen Roman, President and CEO of Global Atomic Corp. (TSX:GLO) to discuss the company’s recent activities and the African uranium market.

Global Atomic Corp is a uranium exploration and development company aiming to start production at its Dasa Deposit in Niger by the beginning of 2025. The Dasa project boasts as being the largest and highest-grade uranium deposit discovered in Africa since the 1970s. The project’s development is on schedule according to the company with the box cut location drilled and blasted and the muck removal underway. The project has also recently received new mining and surface equipment, which has been delivered to site and all site services currently being installed. The company is also underway with an exploration and infill drilling program at the project, which is expected to be concluded by middle 2022.

Stephen Roman has extensive experience in the African mining sector and believes that this sector has produced a variety of minerals over multiple decades and will not stop in the foreseeable future.

Roman states that 70% of Niger’s revenue is accredited to its uranium mining sector, and as such is very supportive regarding the development of the company’s Dasa uranium project. The country was opened to foreign investors in 2005 and this combined with its mineral code and fair taxation policies were the rationale for Global Atomic Corp. to enter the Niger uranium sector.

The permitting of the Dasa project is a testament to the government's commitment to the uranium mining sector, with the permitting process taking 3 months from the submission of the application to the receipt of the mining permit.

Roman believes that each African country has its merit with some African countries showing more potential. He believes that the African uranium sector is investable and shows great promise.

Goviex, Global Atomic, and Deep Yellow will do well. Especially if China goes shopping.
