LIDA is a systems-level, biologically inspired cognitive architecture that supports the modelling of natural minds and the creation of artificial minds, including those belonging to robot agents operating in the physical world. In this presentation, I provide a brief introduction to LIDA focusing on the three phases of its cognitive cycle, the distinction between "action selection" and "action execution," and the design and implementation of its Sensory Motor System. I then review some of our recent work that features robot agents, as well as our attempts to address fundamental issues relevant to robotics (such as the symbol grounding problem and the creation of software frameworks for robotics).

Excellent presentation, thank you. I study Cognitive Science in Germany and was searching for the subject “symbol grounding” when I fortunately “bumped into” this awesome video. I would love to have the slides! Is that possible?
