Glad I read these comments and reviews on Amazon. I’m very new to chicken keeping and it looks like the best thing I can do is build my coop myself.

Many have mentioned, really only good for 2-3 hens. Can be issues of quality of materials, and longevity. The issue I point out is additional predator proofing is needed. The board at the base of the nesting box needs screwing down, foxes etc, will get under and push it up. Also digging predators from the sides needs protection.

Ultimately, convert a shed or maybe large playhouse to your needs. These little coops are expensive in the longer term (you will want more chickens), so do your research, and put that money into bigger and better.

This is perfect if you want ONE chicken!

Cons: it's wood frame will not last long.
The coop is small so only good for bantam or baby chicks.
And it's low to the ground which is a pain for cleaning.

Any tips on outside the coop to keep critters from digging in was thinking nailing chicken wire to the bottom of the outside and bury the chicken wire as deep as the critters could dig

You don't put mulch on the ground of your chicken coop that's why it's muddy. You use a thick layer of crushed shell. And they need that to eat. Talk to your local feed store they should have what you need

This is very cute like many other ones ive seen but in all seriousness your gonna need something that is going to endure predators and bad weather! I would only get this if i had it surrounded with a secured staked cage and more wires fencing in the ground so nothing can dig up under that cage

Small chickens need4 sq ft of space inside and 8 sq ft in the outside run. A heavy bodied chicken needs 8 sq ft in the coop and 15 sq ft in the rum. These numbers are for each bird you have. Might be ok for a couple of bantams.

Anyone promoting these coops without being honest with size and quality are sell outs.

All the latches gotta go
Way more easier to forget one or a predator will have more try points 😊

How would you "winterize" a simple coop like this one? :)

This is going to last ten seconds if a predator comes around. Look up plans and make your own.
