Eric opens the set with little Funk with this Derek and the Dominoes tune. Funk seems to be hip among the blues players right now. Eric shows he can funk it as well as anyone.

Wow! I love Eric Clapton, but the “wow” moments can be exceptions every now and then, that said: his solo here is some of his best I’ve ever heard! Very creative and a bit “dissonant”, “left of center” feeling - all improvised.

I have seen Eric live 7 times since 2009. I agree with you. This tour, both at Nashville and Pittsburgh, he was having fun again. He was always focused on the music. Up until this year he was the ONLY guitar on stage. This year he has Doyle Bramhill II up there to help out plus a steel guitar player. Eric now doesn't have to carry the bang with lead, rythm, and vocals. A tough feet that he marvelously pulled of in the past, but left no room for him to relax.

This is more like it. I've been veiwing Clapton live videos over the last few years, - mainly because I can't get tickets! - been a bit too relaxed, a bit lazy, like the fire had gone out a bit, but he looks pretty focused here, the beginning of this is brilliant. Drummer Steve Jordan is the key. I love Steve Gadd, a total legend, but Jordan brings a real edge to this, that Clapton hooks right into. If you listen to versions of this song with Gadd, it just falls a bit flat.

I was at the Nashville show too, much worse seats than you though! This was my second time seeing Clapton live, the first in Columbus back in '07. Clapton had Doyle Bramhill II with him then and it was amazing, I had much better seats in '07 than '13 though. Also Robert Cray opened, amazing in his own right, and came out to jam at the end too. This year my wife and I enjoyed The Wallflowers, but Robert Cray was better and more appropriate, in my opinion.

They did this song on the 2006/2007 tour which was better than this tour in my opinion. Don’t get me wrong this is good, but the 2007 versions with Derek Trucks were insane. What’s frustrating is the song was only included on the ‘special edition’ DVD of the 2007 Crossroads Festival. I cannot find a copy of the special edition anywhere and there was once footage of it here on YouTube, but I’m guessing it got taken down for copyright breaches. The version they played at crossroads is possibly the finest example of musicianship I’ve ever witnessed.

I felt like it believe me. I paid big bucks for that front row seat. To have that camera man in the way my entire view was frustrating. He could have easily moved down lower to film.
