How Lloyd Banks Sabotaged His Career

As much as it may seem like the ultimate goal, becoming an overnight sensation is a dangerous route. Suddenly awarded everything you could ever want in the blink of an eye, the slew of one-hit-wonders that hip-hop has birthed, have made its pitfalls all too clear to see.

Widely regarded as one of hip-hop’s finest MC’s and unofficial “Punchline King”, Lloyd Banks is a fan favorite to most who lived through the commercial boom in the 2000’s. But in the eyes of some, he’s the poster boy for taking your foot off the gas.

I don’t care what anyone says, "Beamer, Benz Or Bentley" is still a track that I bump to this day.

50 didn't mess up his career. Lloyd banks seems like he was always a introvert and just focused on music. He didn't play industry games and network. He got enough money and was comfortable with just dropping mixtapes.

Everybody don’t wanna be a superstar. Some people wanna get enough money to be comfortable and stay out the limelight. Nothing wrong with that

His dad passed. 50 didn't understand why that was important because 50 didn't grow up with his parents. So Banks just went down a downward spiral. Definitely a underrated mc

Lloyd Banks is a phenomenal MC, whether he has Hype or not should not diminish man's talent for Bars and Flows

Banks not caring about anything that’s said about him. He recently sold out Sony Music Hall without a major selling album in years, he still has fans checking for his music. He’s still got the bars, but unlike his former boss, has matured in both his content and personal life. I bet he has millions saved, and his family is good. He got tired of 50, and moved on quietly, simple as that.

Lloyd banks is still killing it. He released one of the best Hip-Hop albums of last year.

Thing is: He likes the rap stuff, not the media or stuff like it (as far as I understand). So it's not about being the freshest in the new Bugatti for him, he's not a billionaire, but he's far from the hood life. Still think he's dope and his contribution to hip-hop globally is way bigger than people give him credit for.

I used to see banks by his family house in south jamaica (Queens, Ny) around the 2010 times with his lambo parked in the driveway all the time. Never bothered him tho and he always kept to himself

The funny thing is I actually became a fan of Lloyd Banks once he went back to the mixtapes. It started with Cold Corner 2 through the two UNDERRATED mixtapes with DJ Drama and with his last album. "Sidewalks" was one of my favorite songs of 2021.

As a huge PLK fan, I honestly think homie is comfortable and is in a good space in life. People also forgets, that he has kids now and he’s cherishing fatherhood which is dope. We all can agree that his work ethic can be a bit better as far as putting out more visuals to go with his music, but works for him works for him. He still has a hardcore fan base, classic mixtapes/verses, Coti being some of his best work and he drops merch that sells out in minutes. Let’s not forget his next album is done.

Lloyd Banks definitely was a certified classic in the 2000’s, has to be one for the record books, but eventually nothing lasts forever.

I don’t blame him for falling back..not everyone wants to be running around with weirdos and fakes niggas in the industry..I mean we see on a daily basis what these rappers go through and must do to keep that fame..no normal person wants to be apart of that bullshit..he got his money and got out of that “matrix” as some would call it..I applaud him for that 💯

In 50’s book, Hustle Harder Hustle Smarter, he explains how Lloyd Banks didn’t want to evolve in the new era by getting social media to engage directly with his fans . Lloyd told him that Tupac wouldn’t be on social media so he won’t either . But he didn’t understand the marketing and advantage of social media

Fif was the go getter in that whole crew. 50 out worked and out hustled the whole industry and he took everybody with him.

It truly warms my heart to see Lloyd Banks fans speak up. He is my go to artist when I want to 1.) Feel something 2.) Exercise 3.) Put on the stank face because bars be like "Hammer to the solar Plex".
