I love Gibbs, just a true old sea dog. "The winds on our side boys, that's all we need!!"

Notice how all the films after this randomly decided "Hey lets never mention all of these pirates every again for some reason."

Every generation has that one scene like this. "All wings report in, " "Forth Eorlingas!", "Hoist the Colors, " "Avengers assemble!"...

Just the Pearl crew heard the speech, everybody got excited, and just the Pearl fought.

The only thing I don’t like about this movie is that they had this scene with all the ships preparing for battle then they just stayed there for the entire battle and didn’t even go near the EITC fleet

Hans Zimmer's scores just always makes grand scenes feel even more grandeur.

A lot of those are real pirates' flags: 00:25 Christopher Moody 00:26 Blackbeard 00:29 Bartholemew Roberts 00:42 Edward Low 00:47 Jack Rackham

I love how at first it's the sexiest "hoist the colors" ever.
Then it's like: HOIST THE FUCKING COLORS!

0:47 The flag that was once feared now leads the charge to freedom as a symbol of hope. Still gives me chills ever since I saw this in theatres as a kid.

Elizabeth's character development is truly breathtaking
from prissy trophy daughter to king of the pirates commanding, "hoist the colors"

The biggest disappointment was that they didn’t have literally all the pirates jumping in the battle. I got pumped as HELL seeing all the Brethren pumping their crews for war. But even then the final battle we got was still one for the ages

Can we just take a minute to talk about how Elizabeth was one of the main focuses of this franchise, if not THE MAIN FOCUS? Along with her rousing speech, this awe-inspiring scene, and every scene she is in until the end of the film, shows how far she has come since the first film.

She started out as the governors daughter. When she was a girl, she rescued a boy who was drowning in the water half-dead. She discovered he was a pirate and was kidnapped eight years later by the pirates that were hunting HIM. This boy, now a man, came to her rescue and they fell in love. Then, their marriage was halted because of their involvement in freeing Jack Sparrow. She went on the run, became a pirate herself and soon after was almost killed when the 'Black Pearl' was attacked by the Kraken! She left Jack to die to save everyone else and had to live with that guilt even after they rescued him from Davy Jones Locker. She LOST HER FATHER and then found out her old flame has indirect involvement in her father's death. That old flame then came to rescue her when she was captured again, and gave his life to help her escape. Soon after she was elected Pirate King, and single-handedly put in charge of leading the Pirate Brethren to war with Lord Beckett and Davy Jones. During the battle, the man she loved more than anything was killed, mere minutes after they were wed! He's resurrected as the new captain of the Flying Dutchman, and now they can only be together one day every ten years! Captain Jack Sparrow may have been the main character, but Elizabeth Swann was the focus of the entire story. And this pivotal scene, where she rallies a bunch of frightened bilge rats to stand up and fight for their freedom, their way of life... This is the moment she takes center-stage as the ultimate hero of the story.

LOVE LIVE THE PIRATE KING! LONG LIVE CAPTAIN ELIZABETH SWANN!

Rant over.

I worked at a movie theater for each of the three main movies - when we still had midnight releases and people camped out front. We played the soundtrack for customers while entering and to this day it’s such a good memory. The soundtrack is wonderful and it hyped up the customers and kids. We even had little pirate hats and swords for staff members. I didn’t work at a large chain theater so all the extra was supplied by management or staff. We had fun every premier.

True midnight releases should be the norm again. Do away with the Thursday early evening openings.

Despite what some fans and critics thought I really enjoyed these films up to worlds end. They knew exactly what they were and didn’t try to be something they weren’t.

Parents and media always taught us "piracy is a bad thing".

Pirates of the Caribbean taught us that pirates were free men fighting against monarchy and oppression.

I swear this scene holds just as much power as it did back in 2007! I can’t help but feel the exhilaration and goosebumps overwhelm my body every time. Such a masterful scene, such a masterful score, such a masterful film!!
