In the future we will see a WTF1 video about the crazy restart at the hungaroring… can’t wait to say I witnessed it live

"when they didn't need a litre of fuel in the end"
Vettel: this is the wrong world

Another crazy finish: Monaco 1982. The last two laps were so confusing, with cars again going out of fuel and many accidents due to rain, no one actually knew who had won the race - It actually was Patrese for Brabham, but Lotus believed they had bought home a 1-2 and even had sent their drivers (Mansell and de Angelis) on the Podium... just to discover they actually finished 4th and 5th, due to Patrese having been able to restart after spinning off, while other drivers, despite their problems, managed being classified ahead of the lapped Lotuses: eventually, only Patrese finished having completed the full 76 scheduled laps, in what was his first career win!

James Hunt, then commentator for BBC, stated during the live comment: "Well, we've got this ridiculous situation where we're all sitting by the start-finish line waiting for a winner to come past, and we don't seem to be getting one!"

0:15 I know those early 80s cars relied a lot on ground effect to generate downforce, but it's still pretty amazing to see them with no front wings at the old Hockenheimring

Not a F1 race but the latest motogp race at red bull ring was crazy. With 3 laps to go it showered making half the track wet half dry. While the leaders pitted for wets half the field took the opportunity to not pit and get a better position. The last lap those on slicks were literally tip toeing round the last sector with those one wets quickly gaining. In the end 1st was on slicks, 2nd and 3rd on wets. The guy who was in 1st before the rain hit was in contention for the win all race until he crashed on the penultimate lap while on wets while there were people on slicks.

Other crazy race? 1996 Monaco GP comes immediately to my mind. Only 3 cars finished that race. Wet races at Monaco are always wild, but this one was amazingly wild.

Could you imagine a wild race like this these days? Insanely unlikely, but would be wild to see

Only in the F1 game I saw such spectacular races. Especially, when you're not racing in public lobby, but within a fair racing league.

The best moment I saw was a championship decider over a year ago, where the championship lead switched nearly every corner in the last laps. Simply loved it😍😍😍

Having no brakes sounds like a good fuel saving technique.

I love this type of videos. Animated stories of interesting races

You guys should do a video on Formula E. Maybe the race where everyone ran out of energy this season at Valencia. That would be cool :)

Interesting fact: Lotus driver Elio De Angelis took his final F1 win in this race, he would end up just behind new teammate Ayrton Senna in the drivers’ standings. He would move to Brabham but become the last fatality in a F1 car for around 8 years after his fatal accident in a testing session at Paul Ricard in 1986.

1982 Monaco GP with so many drivers crashing/running out of fuel with 3 to go leading to James Hunt saying "We've got this ridiculous situation here where we're waiting for a winner to come past but we don't seem to be getting one"

Well, to be honest Johansson didn’t run out of fuel because of high consumption, but because of a failure in some manifold of the engine. He tells this story in the Beyond the grid podcast

I remember watching that race. I couldn't believe what I was seeing at the time. I was crushed when Senna ran out of fuel.😭

There was something that I didn't see anyone bring up about with having the 1 litre of fuel left at the end, which was the safety aspect. It means that a car should never be running put of fuel and stopping on track, because they aren't allowed to use up every last drop.
Had the extra litre of fuel not been required, Vettel would have run out before the end, and potentially become an obstacle for the rest of the grid.

I had no idea this happened. This is awesome. I can only imagine it as Drive to Survive style show. Great video. Keep up the good work.
