In this video lecture, Tim Schittekatte (FSR Part-time Assistant Professor and Postdoctoral Associate at MIT) describes different waves of new entrants that knocked on the door of European electricity markets to illustrate how market rules need to be continuously adapted to allow new entrants to come in and push innovation forward. Well-intentioned rules designed for certain types of market participants can (unintentionally) become obstacles for new entrants. The European experience with electricity markets illustrates the importance of dynamic regulation.

This video lecture is part of the EU Green Deal online course – 2021 edition.

The next edition is taking place on 18 April - 4 July 2023
