Though I haven't listened completely, I must said your explanation isn't correct at all!
William doesn't mean he told his friends/foe about the reason why he give in to anger.
Here is the truth...
William try not to lose control. He and his own demons (wrath) fight against each other. One day when he get angry with his friends, he can withstand his wrath. He defeat/control his demons (wrath)
And the other days come. He is angry with his enemy (foe).. even though he try/wish to forgive them but he can't.. coz the demons inside him(i.e the wrath) win over him. He can control himself.

It's not about talking to his friends or not talking to his enemy.
