I love the older wave of K5 LA air horns. The new wave kind of sounds like an ehorn almost like it's supposed to be programmed to sound the same and never change

I like how the horns are so powerful that they knock themselves over

Good video, Spencer. That K5LLA can have a straight up competition with the RS5T.

Got to love how foamers position their camcorders RIGHT NEXT to their horns so the audio peaks into the red each time. Love this hobby...

Egadz BLOW the darn things ... I hate the feathering to get the bells sounding ... Give it the FULL blast that's when the sound the best ... That's the way the K5LA was meant to be blown and heard .... : o) They do sound good though ....

I'm absolutely fascinated with this information lately.
Grew up hearing trains all my life, still hear them daily (but especially nightly as the sound seems to carry better at night!)
It's like music.

And as a music lover and a singer, I've always been able to separate the notes on my head, and hear the harmonies in the train horns....

But recently I discovered there were different models of horns, being the reason they all sound a bit different.

And NOW, I realize, not only the horn, but the operator of it/engineer/whomever is making beautiful music coming through my town daily, that person is ALSO responsible for the variations!

This apparently is an art, just like any sort of music.

Oh! And another such video taught me that there are certain patterns for various crossings and locations and what not-- haven't learned those yet-- but coupled with the type of horn, and the person operating it, that's just another component to the music!

I have five year old and two year old grandsons who are absolutely enamored with all things railroad. I hope we can all learn together to appreciate the train 'whistles', and maybe even learn to identify some of them together! 🚂🎶💖
