🇧🇷 Os Tincoãs - Deixa a Gira Girà (1973) 🇧🇷
Показать описание
Formed in 1960, initially as a vocal trio (Erivaldo, Heraldo and Dadinho), Os Tincoãs are a fine example of the musical richness of Cachoeira, in the Recôncavo region.
With the departure of Erivaldo, still in 1963, Mateus became the new member of the group, which consolidated an artistic identity based on the music of the terreiros, on vocal harmonies and on four instruments – guitar, atabaque, agogô and cabaça. From the 1980s onwards, with successive replacements and new albums released, Os Tincoãs established an interesting relationship with the cultural environment of Angola. In 2003, they released the album “Afro Canto Coral Barroco”, recorded 20 years before and unpublished until then.
The group's milestone is the long play – LP “Os Tincoãs”, from 1973, which brings a beautiful version of the folkloric classic “Deixa a Gira Girá”
.
This song is a traditional hymn from Northeastern Brazil dedicated to various Orishas, incorporated by African-Brazilian religions, and to the resilience of the African-Brazilian culture, blended with Brazilian popular culture. The lyrics invoke the mysteries of Candomble gods and goddesses who the singers' parents have descended from. The song tells to follow your own destiny and to keep Ciranda, a traditional Brazilian song form, alive. It encourages to stay connected to the African spirit, to go back to the roots, and to keep grinding. The chorus is repeated multiple times as a mantra, and it serves as a reminder of staying strong and proud of all the cultural and religious heritage that the African slaves brought to Brazil.
