Went to the vet to adopt a dog. Big German Shepard bloodhound mix puppy kept pushing and slamming himself against his cage trying to get to me. Took him home immediately. Named him Mehrunes Dagon.

I was about 5 or 6 and I always wanted a dog, my Father came home from work on the evening of my Birthday with a puppy so small it was hidden in his one hand holding it against his chest. I will never forget that day ❤ named him lucky because I knew I was.

I know it's cute and there's exceptions to any rule, but as a volunteer in a shelter, I've seen so many returned animals because all family members were not there at the time of adoption. Gifting an animal is not always the best idea

LIVING ANIMALS ARE NO (!) PRESENTS! stop giving pets to people als a present! a few days later, they're no more big surprise but they are still there, need to be fed and cared and what if the first happiness is over? then they will be forgotten
