My wife bought me a Duo Sonic as my first electric guitar almost exactly a year ago. I had just accepted a new job after having tremendous struggles with my previous one, and she got it for me as a thank you for pushing through and finding a better job/situation.

For that reason I will never ever get rid of the guitar because of its sentimental value, but it’s also just an amazing instrument. The 24” scale length plays incredibly fast and smooth, and the pickups sound fantastic. I initially thought it felt like a perfect blend of strat and tele (it’s a string through like a tele and the bridge pickup has some tele twang to it, the body is shaped like a strat, and the neck sounds more stratty), but after playing it over the past year I found that it definitely has its own distinct tonal flavor. Needless to say, it’s just fantastic I would highly recommend it to anyone!

My wife has a 1959 duo-sonic. When both pickups are on they are in series and push nicely. She had a tweed champ. What a combo!

Coincidentally I just bought a like-new 2020 Fender Duo Sonic this afternoon, and only just saw this video now. The one I bought has a humbucker in the bridge position with a coil split push pull tone knob. Blue body with an "aged" greenish pickguard. It's basically been sitting in a closet for 4 years and still has the [plastic wrap on the pickguard and neck plate. No fretwear at all. He was asking $600 Canadian and I got it for $550, with a cheap Fender gig bag. First impression was it's very trebly tone.
