They're from Regina, Saskatchewan. The CPR mentioned in the song is the Canadian Pacific Railway.

"CPR man" being Canadian Pacific Railroad, presumably about the *Canadian west ;-)

If you haven't already, check out a couple of their other songs like Banjo Odyssey, which is hilarious if you listen to the lyrics. Also the song, In hell I'll be in good company. Great band!

The Dead South are incredible! I've been pickin out so many of their songs lately. They understand the darkness feel that I love in bluegrass.

The Dead South are fantastic! I've seen them twice in person, the last time was at First Ave. in Minneapolis. They're a great show.

The Dead South (oddly from Canada) are one of my favorite Bluegrass groups. Always an amazing style.

Ahhh, and there it is - another treat as my fave YouTube music teachers videos of their reaction to The Dead South's eclectic bluegrass genre, phenom wonders. Watching and listening to these videos certainly do make my week 😘🌌🤟🎶🤗❣️

I remember a quote from Chet Atkins when asked by a studio musician what should I play here he said usually the melody will do.

Sorry Michael you mention American history but I just had to jump in here. It could be American history but they are from Saskatchewan same province (state) as Colter Wall and talk about the CPR which is the Canadian Pacific Railway and then the Yukon gold rush. Again Sorry to correct you. Great video you did here though.
