This is what happens when you allow a single industry to control the economy of a region. Lives are built up, and then washed away by the financial decisions of people who couldn't care less about their workers.

It's a real shame that so many skilled miners couldn't band together after the closure of mines to develop other industries using their skills and knowledge.
