That spine test is a valid and relevant test for people that use these in tight situations at work. What the Civivi Vision FG handled is what all locking knives should handle. Also, the Knifecenter S35VN version for $138 is sweet.

Personal opinion. Lock fail test is valid. Any one in a trade could tell you they work in confined spaces all the time. Under a hood, In a crawl space, electrical work, framing, plumbing under a sink, etc. One wrong swing in a confined space and its over.

just took ownership of my Wilson combat version of this knife. Not really one to spine whack my knives I don't know what that proves generally, I'm pushing down on the sharp edge of the knife. I did, however, become curious after watching your video and ever so slightly tapped my version of this knife and yes, it did close. I'll still hang onto the knife as the machining is impeccable and I really appreciate an American made product. I don't really plan on doing any heavy lifting with this knife. It will be light duty so the whole lock issue for me is really a non-issue. I do believe at this price point that lock up should be perfect as it is with all of my other super lock style knives even knives costing a quarter of which this knife costs. Thank you very much for your valuable reviews. They're very enjoyable. Keep up the good work.

I have a Tactile Maverick in Titanium and the heat treat on it and it’s amazing probably one of the best I’ve experienced so far!

Good honest review. I own one and didn't know about the lock. If I had seen your review before I purchased mine I would not have bought one.

Was REALLY HYPED up to get my hands on one of these chupacabra, as it was talked about everywhere before it came out, glowing reviews on snex collabs(seeing this using similar lock)I was ultimately excited to get one. This is exactly why I don't preorder video-games based on untested reviews anymore. Great review!

So I have to say I really like the knife, love the full exposed liners, the lock is great, no lock fail when spine whacking it, the pocket clip is good, I don't want it to be reversable because It breaks up the lines on the other side, the texture on the lock is fine, I think a Demko is too much, disassembly and maintenance is a snap, I don't want a forward finger choil on this knife, I like knives to be back end heavy, and it fits perfectly in my hand but I admittedly have smaller man hands. Did I hit all the criticisms? Honestly, I would not ask for a redo, love it as it is, it's a great edc and its on me most days. But obviously that's me, not saying others can find fault in it. I just don't.

I'm so glad I came across your channel. I was very close to purchasing one of these, and based on your review, I will hold out for an updated version. Thank you for what you do.

I have one of these, and you're ABSOLUTELY right about the lock release. It needs more jimping. Other than that, it's a great knife.

I really wanted to like this knife.
I have it, and I've spinewacked and it holds up just fine. But trying to pull the lock with the index is so awkward compared to the demko and the Vision.
But!!!!
For those that use backlocks, this superlock is fantastic for those who would use their thumb to disengage. The choil falls on your finger harmlessly.

Still though... I'd prefer to be able to use my index

Been waiting on this review since the unboxing. Almost pulled the trigger on one last week, but something told me to hold off. Glad I did. I will wait for a V2 sometime in the future.

I agree about the jimping on the lock and spine, I also think it’s a little heavy and I don’t like how sharp the angles are on the scales.

I had one that would fail with a spine wack. Had the gut feeling that it may of been due to oil on the locking surface. Disassembled and degreased, then oiled the bearing properly. Now it is reliable and lockup is solid regardless of how hard I wack it....

Dead on review. Love the look, handle shape, blade shape, lock type. Miss on the weight, jumping on the lock, and not reversible. Love tactile as a company, wish they would send prototypes to reviewers for feedback before coming to market but Love they work to get things right after still 👍

Returned my batch 2 for the same lock issue. I do really like Tactile and own an Archer, love it! I wanted to like the chupacabra but……V2

I have done the same test and the video in your discord with a first run Satin Finish and it held tight. Every failure I have seen has been the Tumbled finish.

I love the look of this, but why leave that V shaped gap in the end of the knife instead of shaping that into a proper choke up position.

I have one of these and mine does not fail the spine lock test when hit pretty hard, maybe there is some build inconsistencies they need to work on.

I watched snecx's videos about the super lock a few years back when the vision R came out so I knew how the lock worked. Before tactile even delivered the knife I was concerned about the lock based on the pictures I'd seen of their modifications. It's crazy that they iterated so many times and only managed to make a reliable lock less reliable and harder to disengage intentionally.

Depending on the changes they make, they might just need to make a v1.1 and build upon the knife to a 1.5 etc. If there are many drastic changes then moving to version 2 can make sense.
