Dcs is the only actual simulator because to even start up a plane you will need to go through hundreds of pages and manuals on the actual aircraft

For DCS you don’t need a HOTAS (throttle and stick) for beginners a controller with keyboard will work perfectly fine :)

I know you've never tried it but VTOL VR is one of my personal favourite flight sims. Its not as realistic or has as good graphics as some others but its so cool being able to press buttons in a VR cockpit

FSX (2006).. back in 2010 was with the USAVAF, 1st LT B1 Lancer pilot, airshows, missions, complete saitek hardware, loads of boxed and digital addons..still got it all hoping for a return...

In terms of mobile Infinite Flight was what got me into flight sims like 10 years ago. (Fast forward and I just started my actual flight training)

IL2 Sturmovik 1946 is fun too, realism and war *perfectly* balanced, smth hard to achieve tbh (is an old game, it hasn't the best graphics). Note: it is WW2 aircraft but has some more modern suprises

If we're listing lesser-known sims, the Aerowinx PSX could also be mentioned. It simulates one aircraft only, the 747-400. Very pricy, but goes over the top with systems realism.

I like X-Plane. Before I played MSFX, which is a huge nostalgia for me now hehe 😅 You can really substitute the multiplayer in XP with VATSIM or IVAO and there are re-shades available for the graphics.

The best part about dcs is once your flying your still very engaged with everything you need to complete the mission, flying the jet is only part of the experience

In terms of multiplayer for xplane11, vatsim works well with the flight sim and it makes all flight sims more realistic with other players anyways

With XP11/12 multiplayer most people that fly commercial airliners will do so on VATSIM which is possible with use of Xpilot

You’re spot on! MSFS really is a beautiful sim. Their rendition of the G1000 NXi is the best there is, but it lacks real flight dynamics.
X-Plane is the exact opposite. Doesn’t look nearly as good, but the flight characteristics are as close as you can get to the real aircraft. Their G1000 is basic at best. It’s good enough to learn the very basics, but a lot of the features that pilots depend on are missing.
X-Plane is where it’s at when it comes to actual flight training.

RFS is my favorite mobile sim with pretty good graphics, great aircraft variety, lots of new 3D/HD airports being added and a fairly affordable price, it’s got multiplayer, and ATC, as well as a flight planner and single player servers and pretty good if you want to do commercial just between all the expanding list of 3D/HD airports, it’s essentially the MSFS of my phone.
