Setra is a commercial bus company originating from Germany . The company has its headquarters in Neu-Ulm and is also a subsidiary of Daimler AG .

The name "Setra" comes from the word "Selbsttragend" ( self supporting ). These words originate from the construction of the rear of the car in the 1950s when competing vehicles still used separate chassis and bodies and were also built by different manufacturers. Until 1995, the company was still operating under the name Kässbohrer-Setra, but due to economic difficulties that year it was sold to Daimler Benz . Since 1995, Setra has been a member of the Daimler Benz branch, EvoBus GmbH.
