Meet Rita Colwell (Part 2) - How the Universe Works

Dr. Colwell reflects on her time at the University of Maryland building the Biotechnology Institute and later serving as university provost. She was recruited by Vice President Al Gore to serve as the director of the National Science Foundation, which she did from 1998-2004. While leading NSF, Dr. Colwell was able to fulfill a whole set of ambitions that she wanted to see to elevate science in the United States.
