I'm am positive this car is a Mk1 body with parts from GT6+/Mk2.
Mk1, has no vents behind the rear windows, Mk1 rear bumpers, Mk1 gas cap, Mk1 rear "TRIUMPH" lettes, Mk1 Back-up lights, no rear side marker lights, Mk1 low back seats, Mk1 dash and Mk1 interior door release handles.
+/Mk2 front bumper, front bonnet, black plastic grill, front side marker lights, engine, rear turn signal lights, rear GT6+ badge and "1970 only" license plate light/back-up light.
The kicker for me is the top of fender trim on the rear is the thicker Mk1 trim and the front bonnet top of the fender trim is thin for a +/Mk2.
I can't tell which frame is used, but if it doesn't have rotoflex rear suspension it's likely a Mk1 frame too.
If this were an early 1969 GT6+/Mk2 it would have front and rear side reflectors only. It has none on the back like the Mk1 and it has later 1969/1970 +Mk2 front marker light/reflectors.
I think someone had a nice Mk1 with a smashed bonnet or a Mk2 with a bad body replacing it with the other.
The VIN would tell the truth, unless they changed it too.
Nice car, I'd love to own it. The color is my favorite for the GT6, but I have three GT6+'s already.

Beautiful GT6. You're calling it a Mk2 but it should be a GT6 plus. Same thing, just badging. The states got the + and Europe got the Mk2.
Also, I hope your lifting the bonnet by the wheel well and not the latches. You can actually cause damage doing it that way... Just so you know.

Holy shit! Wind out your gears a little more, you 'll get a lot more out of that great sounding 6.

Looks like a Mk1 dashboard, a Mk1 body, but Mk2 bonnet. Also looks like a Mk2 engine. Is it actually a Mk1?

Friend had a I think it was '68 GT6. It was garbage! Wouldn't keep time for a week. RT front wheel kept falling off. He usta bring it to me and say make it run. So I timed and tuned it and told him to sell it over and over again. He finally got the idea and traded it for a VW Bug which fit him better. I refused to work on that. Some people don't deserve "sports cars" Or any car. The GT6 was a black eye for Triumph in the day. TR 6A IRS was much better but not up to the previous TR3 and TR4 standards. I drove many '60's sports cars in the day. From the 50's Morgan and the MGTD, Triumph Spitfire and sprite, Sunbeam Alpine and Tiger, they all couldn't match the "Big Healy" AH 3000. Then many yrs passed and I drove Detroit V8's. Then in the '90's I bought another well used sports car. 1978 Toyota Celica GT. 20R 4 cyl normally aspirated, bone stock 200K mi. That was one froggy little car! I bought it for economy and found it delivered performance on the cheap. Fun to drive, Reliable as sunrise, Handling equaled or surpassed the AH 3000 I remembered, Made the Dartzun Z cars look awkward. I drove it 10 yrs. Was never disappointed.

Chrome wires on a MK2 GT6? Yikes!!! They're not a bling vehicle. Non chromed business like wires maybe, original rostyle stainless trims definitely, but this was never a car meant for Liberace
