Played on a PAL copy of the game.

Castlevania (also referred to as Castlevania 64) is a 1999 action-adventure video game developed by Konami's Kobe branch for the Nintendo 64 video game console. An expanded version of the game, Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness, was released later in the same year.

Castlevania is the first 3D game in the Castlevania series. The player selects one of the game's protagonists to control: Carrie Fernandez, a young orphan gifted with magic powers, or Reinhardt Schneider, the whip-wielding heir to the Belmont clan (the series' recurring protagonists). Carrie and Reinhardt set out on a quest to stop Count Dracula's impending return to power after a century of dormancy. The characters travel to and explore Dracula's grand estate in their mission to defeat the count and his horde of undead minions.

When I was a kid, I started playing this game at night alone at home. At the first tree destroyed by lightning, I was scared and went to sleep to play in the morning

One of the fondest memories I have of my mom is her playing this game NON-STOP until she finally managed to finish it (I remember it being like 1am or so). For some reason we didn't have memory cards, so she sometimes left the console on through the night or to pick me and my brother up from school.
Definitely an amazing game (in spite of that horrific chainsaw man)!!

RIP Scott McCulloch. He also voiced Chris in the legendary Resident Evil (1996). These two are not the only games he did. I bet he felt like a million bucks in the late 90's when he had all these legendary roles. He tragically lost his life in a traffic accident in Japan in the early 00's aged only 40.

A buddy and I were playing this tripping absolute balls back in the day. We both nearly died when the spider woman emerged in front of us.

If Nintendo would remaster this game and release it on the Switch my life would be complete. This was one of my favourite games as a kid.

Never realized the skeleton giant was goliath, then I noticed the hole in his forehead. Also creepy how he hangs out in the ravine.

I wish the voice acting was more than their intro sentence. The voice acting was actually good, which is RARE for the time.

I’ve played scarier games, but as a kid this game freaked me out. From the first level, the lightning strikes, skeleton reanimating cutscene, and opening the gate to find a random giant skeleton really set the tone. The Villa level had the most scare moments for me. I didn’t care for the castle center and every level after that though.
