Ray Tracing vs Full-Wave Modeling - High Velocity Layer

Here we demonstrate a high velocity layer wave guide, trapping seismic rays from an induced seismic event. For hypocenter inversion at far stations, this leads to very complex first arrival picking, weak signals and erroneous depth control. Near offset stations are stable and have strong signals for first arrival picking and higher confidence hpocenter inversion results.
