So, in Vista, there was no OemBackground option or even a location for it. What LogonStudio does in Vista is it modifies the background in the resource files themselves. Consequently, unless you want to use Resource Hacker, LogonStudio was what you got for Vista's logon background.
Thankfully, OemBackground was implemented in Windows 7 and made background customisation much much easier.

Logonstudio XP was possible because logonui used a UIFILE resource, which is easily modifiable, to define how the login screen looked. All aspects of the logon screen were changeable with resource hacker. However, if you get a parser error it reverts to the old windows 2000 style login screen located in USERINIT.

I still have Windows Vista installed. <3 Awesome operating system; it is the kitchen sink, if you will, of all Windows releases!

2:15 You're right about the XP version being better...somewhat. Lots of options, but the issue with that popping out square section of the stock background makes the thing looks so sketchy! That's such a gross mistake I guess it must have put off well over half its potential users.

I would guess the Windows 7 version is the same as Vista

Hi. That was the version of the program taht I used, but in Windows XP does not works. You can select the image, download, upload, etc. But when it wants to show you it's the default Windows XP Logon screen but your videos are very cool

The version you're using with Windows Vista has less customization because Vista dosen't have anything to customize. While Windows XP has the logon screen so much 3D and different. And I DON'T KNOW WHY THEY RELEASE IT TO WINDOWS XP!!!!

Microsoft locked down the windows login api known as Gina in Vista because it was a security risk to let random programs hack and replace the program like the Novell Netware login program it should not replace windows network login.
