"I'm a human being. I exist! And if I speak ONE thought aloud, that thought LIVES, even after I'm shoveled into my grave!"
Brilliant.

This guy can't catch a break. Survives a nuclear holocaust, breaks his glasses, ends up in a dictatorship, and then gets executed for reading so much.

"Logic is an enemy and truth is a menace."

That line alone hits hard in today's world.

In any totalitarian regime . . . "One iron rule, logic is an enemy and truth is a menace . . . " truer words have rarely been spoken.

This is a timeless lesson that will never become obsolete.

The guy on the high stand is literally resting his hand on a book saying, “there are no books”. Excellent example of some in power.

It has one iron rule: logic is an enemy and truth is a menace.

Rod Serling pretty much predicted the future with this one.

This episode has haunted me since I first saw it, when it first aired. And now I feel like I'm seeing it come true right before my eyes.

I love the setup of this scene. The obscenely long table, the podium, and the usage of the microphone. All tools to make one feel powerless and make those upon them justified in their perceived stature. Sometimes we use those items to give voice and bring people together. Other times it is the exact opposite. We see this everywhere in our world today from the smallest boardroom to the podiums that powerful people speak at

This story line makes more sense in 2020 than it did in 1961

This was meant as a warning, not an instruction manual

I will never forget watching this show every week at my Father's knee and just being mesmerized by the ideas put forth by Rod Serling and his screenwriters. That was over fifty years ago this show is as awesome today as it was then.Burgess Meredith always played an intelligent, interesting character. What a great show!
