This is one of the best manga in 21st century, the author refuse to have a anime adaptation until her manga is finish, which almost did by now. Her art style is top notch.

For those wondering about this unique series, in a nutshell it's about a party of adventurers exploring a dungeon to save their teammates, but even though it's the main goal, the focus of this anime is an episodic adventure featuring the ecosystem and lives within the dungeon itself and most importantly how it could be incorporated into cooking a new food. It's pretty interesting and a fun relaxing series

So for everyone who enjoy fantasy + adventure + cooking, I really recommend trying this on

You might think at first this is a simple fantasy cooking manga but the worldbuilding is interesting and well thought out and the story.... The story is a masterpiece that you wouldn't expect from a cooking manga

Yasunori Mitsuda, the music composer for Chrono Cross and Chrono Trigger, will be in charge of the soundtrack of this anime. As a fan of both him and the manga, on top of TRIGGER handling the animation, I could not have asked for a better production situation!

Trigger is the one studio I'll watch anime from without knowing what they are at all since they're usually that good. The fact they're adapting one of my favourite manga, is truly something I didn't dare dream of! January can't come soon enough!

Dungeon Meshi is the most wholesome, brilliantly written and funny manga I've read in decades. None of those philosophy 101 crap, no angsty teen with super powers, no 'I need to get stronger to protect everyone' trope, no lolli fanservice. Just an amazing series that weaved dungeon exploring and cooking in the most unique way you'll find.

Imo the fantasy manga with the best world building I've ever read. The dungeon ecosystem is very detailed and impressive, not to mention the care put in all the fantasy races and different cultures. All the characters were distinctive and likeable, even someone I thought would be the antagonist at first would turn out to be a nice person, just with different view from our main characters.
The plot was simple and straight-forward, but in a way this was also Dungeon Meshi's charming point. I'm so glad it have finished now with a marvelous ending, can't wait for the anime!!
