Oceanic Whitetip Shark Attack Prevented (Elphinstone)

During the start of our ascent from a 29 meters deep dive, a curious oceanic white tip shark dove from the surface to have a look at our team.

Although it moves slowly, the longimanus remains opportunistic and aggressive. During the briefings we were warned several times about how to behave and what not to do in their presence. This using a video taken a few weeks ago of a fatal attack on a diver. It didn't take the predator five seconds to remove the victim's leg.
