R-38 / ZR2 Airship (1921)

A large model on display at the Yorkshire Air Museum in the village of Elvington just outside York. A model RNAS (RAF) Howden where the airship was based is also on display beneath & shows the extent of what’s was then the UK’s biggest airship station c1924.
Named R-38 under British management it was subsequently handed over to the USA & re-designated ZR2 but broke up during testing over the River Humber adjacent to Kingston-Upon-Hull in August 1921.
