Dry Dock: Admiral Graf Spee — German cruiser | World of Warships

With the signing of the Treaty of Versailles in 1919, World War I officially came to an end and the defeat of Germany was formalized. As per the conditions of the document, the country's fleet was to be cut down to a minimum, and serious restrictions on the construction of new capital ships in terms of their number, water displacement, and main battery caliber were to be imposed.

In the 1920s–30s, German shipbuilders were charged with a challenging task—designing an all-in-one warship that, while conforming to the strict limitations of the Treaty, would still easily be able to disengage from battleships and confidently sink any existing heavy cruisers in battle.

The task was brilliantly accomplished, and in 1933, the resulting Panzerschiff (armored ship) Deutchland was commissioned into the Reichsmarine. The ship had the armament of a battleship, but the speed of a cruiser. Such an unusual combination of characteristics that didn't fall within any international standards of the time required a new classification. A nickname created not without any irony by the British press—"Pocket Battleship"—took root. The third and the most advanced ship of this series was Admiral Graf Spee.

If you wanna make the Graf Spee actually good and historically accurate, reduce the dispersion of the guns (the accuracy she showed in the battle of River Plate left a big impression on the british) and give her the ability to use spotter plane (the graf spee's spotter plane was its primary source of intel on merchant ships while doing commerce raiding)

The Graf Spee was scuttled because of clever disinformation by the British that they had assembled a small fleet outside the harbor. This was a complete fabrication, but the Germans thought that they would face hopeless odds, and therefore scuttled. Another interesting fact following this is that the British got permission from Chile to examine the hulk because they suspected that the Graf Spee had radar - so accurate had been her gunfire. True enough, they found the radar and were able to examine it. This was contrary to the rules of "neutrality".

Finally! A video talking about the facets of your ships. I missed these

Can you buff those "great secondaries" range? 6km max is still not nearly good enough.

Graf Spee an interesting ship on paper…
What I like the most in this video is “Secondaries are great against destroyer” I understand the 4km range on these but what I don’t understand is the accuracy. Those secondaries still miss against a Colorado at 2km so how am I supposed to hit a destroyer?
Even the secondaries of Bismarck cannot hit anything and it’s a “secondary battleships”. I know captain skills and upgrade but why do I have to use 14 captain skills point to have something that is a little bit effective. I do not remember the need of 14-point captain to enjoy other types of ships.
I understand to miss at 10km but at 2km ??? even without a captain the crew is not supposed to be blind.
So, replace this line by “secondaries are just here to decorate the ship”
But still a good video, it’s good to see that there are still real ship in this game!

I love the Graf Spee dressed in the imperial German colors! Such a beautiful ship! The Germans sure did create some of the most eye catching vessels!

"I am Ironblood navy's third ship of the Deutschland class Panzerschiff, Graf.Spee. When carrying out commerce raiding in the South Americas, I was wounded by a Royal Navy cruiser and had to sail to Montevideo port, and ended up scuttling myself due to various factors...Commander, this time, I want to fight...till the very end!"

"Historically accurate", like leaving out the icebreaker armorplates on the O-class battlecruisers Ägir and Siegfried? :D

"We recreate ship accurately according to their historical blueprints" so why then does Seigfried still have missing armour...

Yes I have Graf Spee, sadly, she like many other older ships have been power crept quite badly. She's OK but she's a support ship now and just uptiers really badly. The 11 inch guns seem to have awful penetration. A problem that Sharnhorst also suffers from.

This ship(and her crew) got best story.. to me.

WG: "We recreate ships accurately according to their historical blueprints."

Also WG: *introduces dozens of grossly overpowered Russian fantasy ships with bullshit armor and hyperaccurate guns, while also consistently nerfing the capabilities of other nation's real-life ships.

Historical accuracy doesn't mean what it used to, huh?

I love the reference at 1:19 when Graf Spee had a "third" turret.
