1)The name Wuppertal ("Wupper Valley") is a trick, somehow you ALWAYS walk uphill in this city, no matter the direction you take.
2)You should definetly visit the University. No, it isn't big or pretty or even old, but from there you have the best view over Wuppertal - and from that distance the city actually looks nice

Wuppertal have more nice places. For example, the opera house in district Barmen , castle Lüntenbeck in district Vohwinkel or historic town hall in district Elberfeld.
Besides that the zoo is nice and a few museums.

In the early 1990s I had a girlfriend studying at Rudolf-Steiner-Schule. Back then the school board planned to extend the premises by building an aula with a stage and a canteen combined. They wanted the students to submit their ideas but she and her fellow-students had none. So, as I was studying civil engineering in a remote city at the time they asked me for help. I sent them a drawing and a model. 15 years later I happened to be in Wuppertal for a project and as I had some time left and was curious. I drove there to see what had been built. It was my design. 😂

the city is literally named after the valley it's located in and has the word valley in it. so yeah, there are hills.

As someone who lives kinda near Wuppertal, i cant fathom how someone from another country would want to visit it 😅 Yeah i guess the schwebebahn is somewhat nice but all the other stuff is something you can see in one way or another in every major city. Never knew about the lego bridge, but seeing it in this vid, i dont feel like i need to see it irl.

There once was a elephant in the Schwebebahn for a film, and that was the only time the Schwebebahn fell down. The elephant did survive.

There is also a second Lego Bridge in Wuppertal at a bigger road, Dahler Str. 50, 42389 Wuppertal. In the bridge is a bicycle path.

And at the botanical garden you can climb the Elisenturm (21 meter) at nice weather, for free or for a little money you like to donate, between 15 and 17 o'clock.

Fun fact: The Schwebebahn was built before the First World War :D
