PlayStation is reportedly working on a successor to the PlayStation Vita. It's rumored to play PlayStation 5 games NATIVELY. However, it's likely still years away. This initiative began after the PS Portal surpassed sales expectations. This could be HUGE for PS5 players.

Let's React.

We are living in the best handheld timeline.

I don’t want any handheld, I want a portable handheld that I can put into my pocket. PSP and PS Vita were really ahead of their time.

If Sony made a Vita 2 I would get it. I loved the first one. I didn't get a portal because I was hoping they would.

They should have just made this device from the start.

I just hope they don’t make it too big. It has to be portable, not transportable. Something Vita sized with improved ergonomics.

If you are looking at the Portal as a platform like a console, then I can see why 2-3 Million in one year would seem low. But it isn't another console or handheld platform. It is an accessory. When you put it into that context, it is doing really well and is so far the best selling video game accessory in 2024.

90-95% of all the gaming I do are on handhelds.
About 45% is on the Vita (1000, 2000 & modded). Another 45% is emulation devices (Odin Lite, Anbernic) & a very small, sporadic portion goes to older handhelds (GBA, GBC, 3DS, PSP).
The market is very loud & clear about its demand for more handhelds &—if you ask me—it’s definitely time for Sony to get back in the game!

I dont understand how the gaming companies havent realised flexible gaming is what people want now. Not Five years away. Nintendo nailed that. I don't want better graphics now that I can play Skyrim on the toilet. I want games of all varieties- triple A, 16bit, and more that I can play in any situation- car, tv, work. I dont want to think about having to be home to play the games I love. I dpnt want a handheld pc. I want to boot up the games easily with a no fuss interface. I have heard the deck does that well but I will wait and see about xbox and playstation

As someone that works away for around 2 to 3 days a week I love handhelds. It allows me to play my games on the go whilst also being quick and easy to start up without worrying about plugging into the mains all the time.

I love the Portal, I don’t even own a PS5, I use the cloud streaming and it’s been pretty good. If they kept the same design as the portal and made it a stand alone console without the need for internet connection I would buy it instantly for $499 maybe even $599 at the most

Hot take. Genuinely love my PS portal and not very interested in a new handheld. I like that everything connects back to my PS5. And the new update greatly improved performance, and added cloud streaming (without the need for ps5 connection) which I’ll probably use more when on the go.
I am lucky enough to have the ideal conditions for cloud streaming / remote play though

This feels like after the gameboy there was game gear, lynx, neo-geo, etc and after switch this feels like the same thing

It's interesting to me that YouTubers who are all about collecting physical games are simultaneously asking for a handheld that can play the games natively, because that would almost certainly be digital only in this day and age. So then we are just going to hear complaints that you have to buy your library again digitally.

If they came out with a vita 2, I’d switch from pc. As long as it plays the same games as the main console and cloud saves will sync between the two.

Good, Nintendo needs some real competitors that way they can’t milk the Switch 2 like they did with the Switch…for nearly 8 years.

Will buy a flight ticket to go straight to Japan and buy a PS Vita 2 if they're actually make and selling them.

4:08 - Claiming that nintendo started it is very ignorent, kids are playing on the smartphones and NOT on the gaming consoles unless it is Fortnight.

Only old people like me, you and those who pass the age of 29 by now are the "console presents" as they say.

Mobile gaming is on the rise since 2018 and IT IS the NEW game industry as in it has not lost trillions like you know who are losing since 2019.

Btw how is concord doing? you know the game that Sony told Japan and ALL sony playstation whales to F off to.

Oh right, its dead in the water LMAO.
