This song I believe it is dedicated to Giordano Bruno, he was trialed and executed in 1600 for heresy in Rome, therefore the expression “Roman Sky”.
As Giordano is consumed by the flames, the narrator wonders if he was calm at the time of his death, as he once claimed.
“It may be you fear more to deliver judgment upon me, than I fear that judgment.”
-He stood up to the Church in a time when no one dared to even try it, before the famous Galileo trial, in an attempt to “enlighten” the people.

-He was executed because of his opinions which were opposed to that of the Catholic church. They took away what he stood for.

-his philosophy and theories are still widely accepted; his words spoken back then have an enormous impact on today.
