It's good to hear that she's going back to a softer sound and softer/lighter lyrics. I think the issue her audience had with her raunchiness was that it felt overdone for the person we see in front of us, it didn't feel totally natural. And the music she made with her sister was so light and refreshing in an industry that is overrun with raunchiness, that when she changed from that after becoming a solo artist we/her audience missed that. I love that her listening to gospel music is influencing that decision because it goes to show when you build a stronger relationship with Jesus, that naturally He can and will change you.
