In 2004, I had been working as a cab driver for just two weeks when I had an encounter with Batali and two of his associates in my taxi. At the time, I didn't recognize him, and I came close to asking him to leave my taxi due to his intoxicated state and his inappropriate behavior towards the female associate who was seated between him and the other passenger. She had asked him to stop his actions multiple times. It wasn't until he exited the taxi that I finally realized who he was, recalling that I had seen him in a commercial before. After the allegations were brought against him a friend of mine messaged me and was like " Bro, you were not bullshitting about the Batali incident. Have you heard the news?"

Whatever. All he lost was social status. He’s still rich AF.

I loved his food. I still make his panchetta wrapped radicchio cooked in butter and finished with balsamic vinegar. One of the most fabulous appetizers ever. People have to deal with the consequences of their actions....

you're only hearing about it because of his public status, this shit goes on in all businesses everywhere. Excess in all things will be anyone's downfall

Being a fan of Batali's and having seen enough of him could anyone be surprised by the sexual harassment. I don't condone it but with Mario it was obvious if u watched any of his shows. I've heard he sold a lot of his stock to Joe Bastian before Covid. Pretty sure his friends weren't surprised about sexual harassment but they probably had to protect themselves. Not only that but Mario's wife is the heiress to Coach so he's fine.

All of these comments you'd think he was Cosby. Wasn't he acquitted?

one of the pioneer celebrity chefs, kinda miss him having a show, cooking. Don’t care much about his personality & his personal life, that’s his own. In that regard, talent>private life👨‍🍳✌️

Okay, he fucked up. His behavior was reprehensible and I’m disgusted. I also feel compassion for this man because I know that in no way do I understand where or what his life experiences led him to the place where he thought his behavior was « okay ». As someone who has changed when choices I made were BAD, I’m willing to give him the benefit of doubt. I’ve been in Foodservice, in literally every position, for over 30 years and when you have an amazing talent, like Batali, who it seems to understand his bad behavior, maybe we should cut him some slack. If he wonks it, he’s DONE. Bury him…but until then, redemption should be on the table.

He got ‘me too’d’ just like brand, just like Kavanaugh, just like Trump. Edit: I used to think he got Me too’d. Now that we know more about him we might see his name on the Epstein client list.
