Little hello from the meagre community of French collectors who's watching your videos - that is to say if I am not alone here ^^ I have been enjoying your videos for the last month and found precious information that I was desperately looking for regarding European Yu-Gi-Oh! cards. I carefully reconstructed a timeline and documented the release of the various Yu-Gi-Oh! sets in France and I can bear out the vast majority you surmised about European English sets is also applicable to French releases – though the uncertainty here is due to my lacking of hundreds of ultimate rares for fair comparison and bar LOB 1st which a priori only exists in EU version in French.

It feels like Cartamundi BE, Konami of Europe’s dear European manufacturer, was too busy printing Pokémon and Magic cards here to properly roll Yu-Gi-Oh! ones in 2002* – hence the unfortunate year-long delay with US sets despite the first broadcast of Yu-Gi-Oh! anime as early as April 2002 in France (gosh !) Though why we never catch up with NA sets still remains a wild guess to me since Cartamundi did not produce any more Pokémon cards after mid-2003 ; but patently 1st edition cards from the first 2003-2004 sets in France are just absurdly scarce and we even had to import the SDP/SDJ decks from the USA - though we did produce the SDY/SDK decks in Belgium a few weeks earlier. All that points to a strangled European production at least regarding to the French market. Also, to be comprehensive, I must also bring to light that in purchase power parity with the US our booster (boxes) have always been 25-30% more expensive (even to this day) and clearly we never coped with a surfeit of European production – the US import sealed products are still the most prevalent here by far.

Very likely Cartamundi would not have been ready for ultimate rares printing, or at the very least the rhythm of printing them. I conjectured this since, when we got the TCG back in Cartamundi BE for printing (with DR1 and TLM in March-June 2005), we also got what looks like a new printing machine (and not only a different cardstock which kept its proclivity for brittleness) dedicated to the unlimited boosters of tins and Special Editions. Anyway the American-English community - special dedication to you and Strictly Sealed here ! - is way ahead in terms of information gathering on the TCG and there is simply a dearth of knowledge in European lands. I’d love to see more details on European unlimited ultimate cards because I feel the pattern of special printing (presumably from tins and Special Editions exclusively) still hold relevance for post-EOJ sets - though this one is definitely pinnacle. Strangely, even after parsing tens of EOJ French ultis, I have still to find any instance of this special vibrant unlimited pattern :/ Although my inquiry just began three weeks ago.

*Even though KoE rights for the TCG were acquired as late as november 2002. So it would also indicate an internal conflict in Konami as a cause of the delay or a will to experiment first with the US market.

This makes me wanna collect cards, but unfortunately with my luck it would basically be like cranking my gas up to 11 lighting a match and leaving my entire life savings in the kitchen .

When you cross stuff from bgs to cgc do you crack them or just send the bgs slabs?

Is a CGC 10 generally worth more than a BGS 9.5?

By the way, what does "1.5" mean?
